8337 Lookout Mountain, Los Angeles, CA 90046

Description

Tucked into the storied hills of Laurel Canyon, this enchanting 1908 castle-style residence offers a rare connection to the neighborhood's bohemian roots. Long before Laurel Canyon became the epicenter of the 1960s music scene, these wooded hills attracted Hollywood's earliest stars, artists and creative outsiders seeking privacy and escape. Silent-film icon Clara Bow, the original "It Girl," was among those drawn to the canyon, famously retreating to a castle-like hideaway with her beloved puppy. Built in 1908, this distinctive four-bedroom residence captures that same romantic, unconventional spirit. Originally conceived as a hunting cabin, the home unfolds with storybook details including two turret rooms and an intriguing bridge overlooking the main living space. The character is unmistakably Laurel Canyon private, atmospheric and entirely one of a kind. The property also carries a connection to the canyon's legendary musical history. Nearby Lookout Mountain became an early gathering place for musicians and creatives, with some of the area's earliest tracks developed at the Lookout Mountain Bowl, decades before Laurel Canyon would become synonymous with the music of an era. An attached guest house offers an ideal creative retreat, music studio or private workspace, while abundant parking sits beneath the canopy of a magnificent mature redwood. Set on an approximately 10,273-square-foot lot, the property offers a rare combination of space, privacy and character in one of Los Angeles' most storied neighborhoods. A true Laurel Canyon original where early Hollywood, bohemian history and the canyon's enduring creative spirit converge.
