1117 The Alameda, Berkeley, CA 94707

Description

Just up the street from the beloved North Berkeley Library, 1117 The Alameda is a rare find: a home on an unusually generous lot, with space for gardening, gathering, and outdoor living that’s hard to find in such an accessible location. Think urban homestead at its finest: garden beds overflowing with vegetables, flowers worth bragging about, fruit trees, and fresh eggs from the charming chicken coop. Set toward the center of the fully fenced lot, the home enjoys both sunny and shaded outdoor spaces throughout the day. Three gates along quieter El Dorado Avenue offer easy access to the front and back of the house, and a natural route for bringing groceries from the driveway to the kitchen. Inside, the 3 bedroom, 1.5 bath home has the warmth and character of its 1921 origins, including hardwood floors, built-in cabinetry, and a fireplace, along with sunny communal spaces and an updated kitchen that opens to the backyard. The bedrooms, with new dual-pane windows, are tucked toward the rear for privacy, with the largest opening onto the patio. Plentiful attic storage adds practical space, and an updated roof and electrical system bring peace of mind to this classic Northbrae gem. Parking is easy on both The Alameda and El Dorado Avenue, and the private driveway and garage provide off-street parking and storage (or possible ADU conversion). And then there’s the location! Between Solano Avenue, Monterey Market, and the North Shattuck corridor, daily errands, coffee runs, and dinners out can all happen without getting in the car. For the gardener, the chicken handler, the aspiring beekeeper, or anyone who wants more room to live outdoors, 1117 The Alameda offers something increasingly rare: a true sense of space and sunshine in the heart of North Berkeley. BESO score 6.
